Research welcomes Tech Transfer Director

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development is pleased to announce Chester Bisbee, Ph.D., J.D., has joined the office as the Associate Vice President of University Research Services and Administration and Director of Technology Transfer and Commercialization.

Chester Bisbee, a Certified Licensing Professional, has worked with Georgia State as a technology transfer and commercialization consultant and now joins us full time as Associate Vice President for University Research Services and Administration and Director of Technology Transfer and Commercialization. In this position, he will lead the university’s efforts to assist Georgia State faculty with increasing development of intellectual property, technology transfer and biotech licensing.

Immediately prior to joining Georgia State full time, Dr. Bisbee was a Technology Transfer and Commercialization Consultant for Georgia State University while also serving as an Industry Relations and Licensing Specialist for the Trudeau Institute.

Dr. Bisbee has held several executive-level appointments in university technology licensing including Director of Technology Licensing and Industrial Relations at SUNY Stony Brook, Director of Technology Management at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and also Senior Licensing Officer in the system-wide licensing office in the Office of the President at the University of California. In these positions, he has negotiated significant agreements with industry involving university-industry research consortiums, small molecule therapeutics, novel imaging techniques, and Nobel Prize winner RNA interference technologies.
