This workshop focuses on basic approaches to grant writing including how to identify a fundable project idea, how to start developing the proposal with the reviewer in mind, and keys to good proposal writing. This workshop provides guidance to those who both manage effort reporting for their department or unit and for those who are required to certify effort and wish to understand more about this federal requirement and the effort reporting processes at Georgia State. The in-class training includes activities that go through the pre-review, certification, and post-review processes for effort reporting. This workshop is aimed at junior faculty who are planning to prepare and submit and NSF CAREER grant proposal with the next cycle or two and for those who would like to learn more about this NSF grant program. This workshop will be led by Dr. Suri Iyer, of Georgia State’s Dept. of Chemistry, who has a rich history reviewing NSF grants and who has received a number of grant awards himself. Dr. Iyer will share his personal and professional knowledge about how to prepare the best NSF CAREER proposal and will address questions from participants.
