Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
All research at Georgia State that involves animal subjects must be reviewed and approved in accordance with federal law and university policy. Georgia State’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is charged with overseeing compliance with these federal regulations. The IACUC is a standing committee at Georgia State, whose composition and responsibilities are mandated by the Animal Welfare Act & Regulations (Public Law 98-198), the Public Health Service Policy and the guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (8th Edition).
Georgia State’s Animal Welfare Assurance number in accordance with the Public Health Service (PHS) Policy for Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals is D16-00527 (A3914-01). This assurance number is current and applicable to all Georgia State research, research training, experimentation, biological testing and related activities.
